Institute of Engineering, UNAM

The Institute of Engineering at UNAM (II-UNAM) was founded in 1956, and is now part of the Coordination for Scientific Research at UNAM.

The personnel of the Institute of Engineering includes 94 professors, 99 academic technicians, 366 graduate students (masters and doctorates), and 184 staff members The organization chart of the Institute of Engineering includes three assistants to the director and 15 department heads. The facilities of the Institute of Engineering include 12 buildings and 18.

The II-UNAM mission includes the not only the proposal and development of research projects, but also to serve as an instrument for technological development and a provider of technical assistance to numerous organizations like the Ministry of Education (SEP), the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), the Federal Commission on Electricity (CFE), the Inter-American Bank for Development (IBD), the Mexican Association of Insurance Companies (AMIS), Cementos Mexicanos (CEMEX), the Federal District Government (GDF), Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), the Mexican-American Foundation for Science, the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT), the National Institute for the Education of Adults (INEA), the National Water Commission (CNA), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), just to name a few.
