Culture

Mexican culture reflects the complexity of the country’s history through the blending of Mesoamerican civilizations and the Spanish cultural heritage acquired during the 300-year colonization period of Mexico. More recently, the influences of the United States of America and, to a lesser extent Europe, Africa, and Asia have shaped Mexican culture

Mexican music covers an extraordinarily wide range of different musical genres and styles. Many traditional Mexican songs are well-known worldwide, although their origin might not be clear to the listener. The best-known Mexican music genre is, by far, ranchera, interpreted by a group of musicians called mariachis.
